Story of ML - Bad Investments

Chapter #1: Bad Investments

(also Decrypted Map)
Go to the Sand Bar and G'ill in WaterPort, talk with Deckhand Dex about a new level!

Going to as well as upon arrival at WaterPort will see:
I’m at the Sand Bar and Gill enjoying a nice bowl of Betsy Lou’s lobster bisque when Deckhand Dex sidles up to my table, grinning. Talk to Dex?

Chapter #1: “Go see my cousin Jenny... she’s the chapter president of the Farovian Air and Space Team. They’re working on creating special poles to catch the high-flying fish at Monsoon Lagoon, off Blue Crescent. The catch is that they need a good wrangler to test their new equipment. And, you’ll need to buy the materials so they can make the poles. But you stand to find a whole bunch of new fish and make a nice pile of gold.” Go to one of the unused hangars at Fishertonville Regional Airport and try to find Jenny!

Journal entry:

Chapter #1: Bad Investments I’m at the Sand Bar and Gill enjoying a nice bowl of Betsy Lou’s lobster bisque when Deckhand Dex sidles up to my table, grinning.

“What’s up?” I ask.
“You want in on something really cool?” he says.
I set down my soup spoon and sigh. “Is this another get-rich-quick scam?”
He shakes his head. “No, no. This is for real.” He sounds absolutely earnest.
I squint at him. Dex is a sweet-natured guy, but his always coming to me with one harebrained scheme after another. But then, a broken clock is correct twice a day, so maybe for once he’s got a good tip for me?
“What’s the catch?” I ask.
“Go see my cousin Jenny... she’s the chapter president of the Farovian Air and Space Team. They’re working on creating special poles to catch the high-flying fish at Monsoon Lagoon, off Blue Crescent. The catch is that they need a good wrangler to test their new equipment. And, you’ll need to buy the materials so they can make the poles. But you stand to find a whole bunch of new fish and make a nice pile of gold.”
I’ve heard stories about the fish of Monsoon Lagoon for years... it would be pretty sweet to be one of the first wranglers to fish there. So it sounds like a decent deal... but Dex is always trying to work some kind of angle. I can’t immediately see what it is here, so I’m still suspicious.
“So what’s in this for you?” I ask.
He’s looking embarrassed now. “I talked Jenny’s dad — my uncle Ron — into investing a whole lot of gold in Roperian Treasury notes. And, uh, that didn’t go so well. So he’s pretty mad at me. So are both my parents. But if I find a good investor/tester for Jenny so she and her club can develop her poles and take them to market, then I’m out of the dog house.”
He pauses, looking hopeful. “You in?”

Chapter #2: Skydiving!

Travel to Fishertonville

I learn that the Farovian Air and Space Team (FAST) is run out of one of the unused hangars at Fishertonville Regional Airport.Ask if Jenny is here?

Ask if Jenny is here?

Unlocked Chapter#2: Skydiving!

Chapter #2: What you’ll need to do before we can build you any more gear is to get your Skydiving and Ballooning Certification.” Jenny hands me a self-study manual. “Once you’ve trained by catching some flying fish, come back here and I’ll cover your next steps.” Catch 5 flying fish (Glider, Flyin, Spotted Eagle, Blackhawk Ray and many others) to unlock the Skydiving Skill. Read Chapter #2 for a big hint.

Journal entry

Chapter #2: Skydiving I learn that the Farovian Air and Space Team (FAST) is run out of one of the unused hangars at Fishertonville Regional Airport. I head out there and find a dozen college students busy at work on various aspects of aircraft and spacecraft design: some are poring over blueprints, others are huddled around a 3D printer, and two others are TIG welding what looks to be a small experimental airframe.

“Is Jenny here?” I call out from the hangar doorway.
One of the two working at the airframe turns off her TIG welder, turns and pushes her welding mask back, revealing a red-haired young woman in pigtails. She looks to be about 25. “I’m here. What’s up?”
“Dex sent me,” I reply. “He said you need a pole tester?”
Her face brightens as she grins, and I suddenly see a family resemblance to Dex. “We sure do! Come over here and I can give you the details.”
We gather at a conference table and she starts showing me experimental pole plans.
“We’ve designed a whole lot of poles, but for our first test, we’ve settled on building and beta testing the Dirigible Pole.”
“What’s that?” I ask.
“Think of it as a combination hot air balloon and a platform-based fishing pole... we think it’ll be perfect for the fish flying in the lower altitudes of Monsoon Lagoon. The hot air envelope is designed to provide loft and stability. You’ll need to keep coming back here for tweaks and upgrades. You’ll start with the fish in the lowest part of the sky and work your way up.”
I’m not particularly afraid of heights, but by the looks of the plans on the table in front of me, this dirigible can go quite high!
“What kind of safety features does this have?” I ask.
“Oh, it’s pretty standard... you’ll have a safety tether and a helmet to start. Once you get high enough for it to matter, you’ll have a parachute, too.”
“I’ve never been up in a hot air balloon,” I reply. “So I don’t really know how to pilot one? Also, I don’t really know how to work a parachute.”
She blinks at me. “Oh! Right. All of us at FAST know how to do that stuff, so sometimes I forget regular wranglers don’t. What you’ll need to do before we can build you any more gear is to get your Skydiving and Ballooning Certification.” She hands me a self-study manual. “Once you’ve trained by catching some flying fish, come back here and I’ll cover your next steps. There's currently a strong jet stream over in Blue Crescent, blowing some flying fish high out of the water. Try shooting them down over with your Rifle-pole.”

Catch 5 flying fish: Glider Fish (Blue Crescent), Flyin Fish (WaterPort), Spotted Eagle Ray Fish (Sans Culpra), Blackhawk Ray Fish (Sans Culpra or hopping between Favoria and Roperia)

Note you can catch any of the flying fish listed so you don't need to chase down one of each. You also don't have to use the Fancy Rifle-pole instead of your usual pole in the area.

Upon catching the fifth flying fish will receive notification: Deliver the flying fish to Jenny!

“Great, you earned your wings and caught some flying fish!” Jenny exclaims.

Go to Fishertonville and Hand over the flying fish: Hand over flying fish? Otherwise will receive error 'Go to Fishertonville' if not in Fishertonville.

Handed over the flying fish to Jenny, wow that was fun! Now I need to get my Skydiving and Ballooning Certification!

Chapter #3: Dir-eligible

Learn the Skydiving and Ballooning Certificate Skill (costs 300k gold, also min 1 million points requirement).

Journal entry

Chapter #3: Dir-eligible I return to the FAST hangar with my freshly-inked certifications in my hand.

“Great, you earned your wings!” Jenny exclaims.
“What happens now?” I ask.
“We’ll need gold to gather the materials for the first experimental pole,” she replies. “Once we’ve built your Dirigible Pole, you’ll need to catch a certain amount of each kind of the lower-level aerial fish. These catches will help us make sure that the pole is working as well as it can so we can take it to market!”
“Do I get to keep the pole?” I ask.
“Oh, of course,” she replies. “If you want to get started, just have the gold we need ready, and we can get your first pole built in an hour!”

Start building my Dirigible?

Unlocked Chapter#3: Dir-eligible!

Chapter #3: Jenny takes me through the hangar and shows me a Dirigible Pole, which is tethered out back. It’s an impressive aircraft! The Dirigible will be ready in 15 mins! Make sure you stock up on 'Flying Chum' in Fishertonville Chum Shop.

While waiting for the dirigible, you can buy the different kinds of flying chum at the shop

After 15 minutes, Check out the dirigible?

Unlocked Chapter#3: Dir-eligible!

Chapter #3: Wow this thing is like a huge aircraft! Jenny finished building the “pole”! Purchase the Dirigible Pole?

Chapter #4: Impressive Aircraft

Purchase the Dirigible pole.

Jenny takes me through the hangar and shows me my new Dirigible Pole, which is tethered out back. It’s an impressive aircraft! The lighter-than-air balloon rises at least 20 feet above us, and the pole looks strong enough to land some decent fish.

“Wow, this is really nice,” I say.
“We’re hoping to make it even nicer,” says Jenny. “But to do that, we need the data from your test catches. The dirigible is equipped with various automatic sensors, but we’ll also need the fish from your catch. Bring them back here when you finish each quest.”
“Will do,” I reply.

“We need the data from your test catches. The dirigible is equipped with various automatic sensors, but we’ll also need the fish from your catch. Bring them back to FAST (in Fishertonville) when you finish the First Flight Quest!” says Jenny.

Go to Monsoon Lagoon and complete the First Flight quest with your Dirigible pole. You will need to get your pole to level 15 first in order to undertake this quest.

Upon handing in the First Flight quest at FAST in Fishertonville:

Next: Jenny says, “Great job on your first flight! Now, we need data from your Faster and Higher Quest! Come back here when you’ve caught them all!”

Upon handing in the Faster and Higher quest at FAST in Fishertonville:

Jenny rewarded me with the Faster and Higher Dish! (Received the xth one ever!) Completed quest for my first time ever in x,xxx mins!
Next: “Excellent work... this data is really going to help us improve the pole,” says Jenny. “Now, we need you to catch fish for the Death-Defying Test!”, says Jenny.

Upon handing in the Death-Defying quest at FAST in Fishertonville:

Jenny rewarded me with the Death-Defying Test! (Received the xth one ever!) Completed quest for my first time ever in x,xxx mins!
Next: “Whew! Those were some fast fish, weren’t they?” asks Jenny. “The next test won’t be any slower, but it will be a whole lot louder! Bring down some real superstars next!”, says Jenny.

NOTE: Depending upon how quickly it took to complete the Death-Defying quest, might need to level up your Dirigible pole to level 58 before can start the next Superstars quest. As there are 20 levels (38 to 58) between the two quests. Can repeat one of the prior quests again until your pole is high enough.

Upon handing in the Superstars quest at FAST in Fishertonville:

Jenny rewarded me with the Superstars Dish! (Received the xth one ever!) Completed quest for my first time ever in x,xxx mins!
Next: “Great work!” exclaims Jenny. “You didn’t even lose your hearing! The next flight test is nothing short of epic!”, says Jenny.

Upon handing in the Epic Test quest at FAST in Fishertonville:

Jenny rewarded me with the Epic Test Dish! (Received the xth one ever!) Completed quest for my first time ever in x,xxx mins!
Next: “Well done! It takes a skilled wrangler to take on the legendary flying fish of Monsoon Lagoon! Now, you’ll need to catch some of the biggest flying fish you’ve ever seen...”, says Jenny.

Upon handing in the Legendary Test quest FAST in Fishertonville:

Jenny rewarded me with the Legendary Test Dish! (Received the xth one ever!) Completed quest for my first time ever in x,xxx mins!
Next: “Stellar work, Wrangler! We’ve gotten all the flight test data we need to perfect the Dirigible Pole! Now, recover 25 more high flying fish to become eligible for your Basic Space Flight Skill!”, says Jenny.
The Ancient Mariner recognized my excellence and awarded me with 2 of the legendary Liquid Gold Attractants!

Chapter #5: Flying High

Unlocked by turning in the last Dirigible quest of Legendary Test.

After I give my last catches to the research team at the FAST hangar, I meet with Jenny to discuss my next mission.
“You did a great job with the Dirigible Pole!” Jenny exclaims. “With the data we gathered from your catches, we’ve been able to improve the equipment a whole lot! It’s just about ready for alpha testing!”
She pushes plans for a new pole across the table... and I see references to outer space!
“What’s this pole about?” I ask.
“This is a little different than the Dirigible Pole. You’ll be using it to do mission recovery for all kinds of astronaut fish! Bring them back here and we can debrief them and use what they know to make better equipment.”
I start thinking about the Challenger disaster and all the crazy accidents and near-accidents I saw dramatized in “First Man” and “Gravity.”
“Going into space sounds a little dangerous?” I say.
Jenny fixes me in a level gaze. “It’s not for the faint of heart. But you aren’t faint of heart, are you?”
I blush. “Of course not!”
She laughs. “All right! But you’ll need some important training first.” She hands me a stack of textbooks and study manuals. “You’ll need tw dangerous is this going to gew dangerous is this going to geo catch 25 high flying fish (Dashi, Cod Zepplin, Space Coddity or Flying Hippie) for your Basic Space Flight Certification.”

NOTE: Need to catch 25 flying fish: Dashi Fish, Cod Zeppelin Fish, Space Coddity Fish, or Flying Hippie Fish like was done in Ch #2 above.

Upon catching each required flying fish should keep seeing messages like: Need 15 more high flying fish to unlock Space Flight Skill! And upon catching the last for example:

Caught a 1.88 lb Dashi, worth ...... Deliver the high flying fish to Jenny!
I arrive in the FAST Hangar, feeling a bit nervous. I got plenty high in the Dirigible Pole... what will it be like to actually go into outer space? And how dangerous is this going to get? Hand over 25 high flying catches?

NOTE: One does NOT need to be in Fishertonville, even though FAST is technically there. Also after clicking to turn them in, it erroneously states unlocked Chapter #5 again, even though this is already unlocked.

Unlocked Chapter#5: Flying High!

I arrive in the FAST Hangar, feeling a bit nervous. I got plenty high in the Dirigible Pole... what will it be like to actually go into outer space? And how dangerous is this going to get? Take the Basic Flight Certification?

After purchasing the Basic Flight Certification skill:

Basic Space Flight!
I learned the Basic Space Flight Skill. Spent 350,000 gold to take the course.
Next Step: I head back to the hangar with my new space flight credentials, and Jenny meets me near the entrance. “Great job getting your training!” she says. “Now we’ll need lots of gold to complete your Mission Recovery Pole, it’s ready now!”, says Jenny. Purchase the Mission Recovery Pole?

Chapter #6: Mission Recovery Quests

Unlocked by traveling to Fishertonville and purchase the Mission Recovery pole.

I arrive in the FAST Hangar, feeling a bit nervous. I got plenty high in the Dirigible Pole... what will it be like to actually go into outer space? And how dangerous is this going to get?
Jenny spots me. “Wrangler! Great to see you. Follow me into the aerospace wing, and I’ll show you your new test pole!”
The aerospace wing of the hangar is all done in clean-room white, and on a platform in the middle I spot what must be my new pole! It’s gorgeous! My fears evaporate; I can’t wait to go up and try this out!
“Normally, you’d need a lot of specialized astronaut training to operate a pole like this,” says Jenny. “But thanks to the data from the Dirigible Pole, we incorporated an advanced autopilot feature to make the flight and life support side of things a whole lot easier on you. But all the mission recovery will be up to you! We have six more data-gathering quests for you to complete.”
Next: “We have six more data-gathering quests for you to complete. Complete the Classic Aviators Quest!“, says Jenny.
